The annual late snowstorm arrived yesterday. Three or four inches of snow everywhere; very Christmasy. Built a fire in the fireplace and had hot drinks.

Lots of things were leafed out, and some getting ready to bloom. (I hope the lilac's all right--need to check.) Mama's tree isn't too happy--the baby leaves all got frost-bitten--but it's cold-hardy so it should pull through. The desert-adapted plants are wiser, they don't wake up this early. The pansies hanging in a pot outside the kitchen window are fine, which is nice. Bit of color to brighten up the morning. It's great that pansies don't mind getting frozen.

This morning the sun came out and started melting the snow so fast it raised a fog, which buried us for a couple of hours. Being a desert rat, I love fog. It's rare in these parts. Beautiful and eerie.

I hope this is the last big snow of the season. Never know, though. We had snow on May Day one year.

*This is the same score I had the last time I posted, which makes it seem as if I haven't been sending stuff out. I have--several stories have turned around this week. I was packing one up to go today when another story bounced back to my desk. So it goes.
